End Table Design

Machining a Design
2016
In high school, I was left to design and create a project out of wood, and I decided to create an end table for myself that I still use to this day.
I began by sketching the column shape in AutoCAD (the file has long since been lost) as well as the legs and how they fit. I then glued together multiple boards of red oak to form the basis for the central column, which I then trimmed using a table saw and operated a lathe to produce the complicated central portion. For the top section, I utilized a large drill followed by a scroll saw for the central hole, and I used a band saw followed by a belt sander. The top was also flattened through the use of a wide planer and a wide belt sander. For the legs, I utilized a band saw to cut the general shape of the legs, then used a jointer to cut the notches for the legs to fit together.
