Guitar Stand

Creating a Metal Guitar Stand

2016

In high school, I was left to design and create a project out of metal and I created a guitar stand because I play guitar as a hobby and wanted a custom stand.

I began by sketching the individual pieces on AutoCAD (the files have been lost over time), then printing them out full-sized onto large pieces of paper. This paper was then glued to plywood to act as templates for when I would plasma cut the metal. After plasma cutting the complex parts, I proceeded to weld the pieces as I intended using an arc welder. I then used a disc grinder to grind down the welds, polished the product using a buffer, and painted the entire thing red. I still use this guitar stand to this day.
