Lafferre Navigational Robot

Navigating the halls of Lafferre
2020
This project began this summer as a means of assisting younger students in finding a path through Lafferre Hall at University of Missouri-Columbia. This project would be helpful because the halls of this building have been described as a "labyrinth" by many students in the past, with one wrong turn leaving many freshmen lost in the building, not knowing where they are.
The MU Robotics organization began brainstorming this project in April 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we had to work remotely developing different parts of the robot. As one of the only mechanical engineers in the group, I ultimately drew the overall prototype design. Though some small changes are being taken into account to allow for sensors to be better placed, this design has been the core of the project. It is still being constructed at the moment, and progress has been slow because everyone has been separate, but the project should be completed by May 2021.
I have stopped working on this project because I have graduated and have no more affiliation with the organization, yet progress has continued since I have left.
